  2. Iron Age 

  3. Mines – Singhboom and Dhalbhoom in Jharkhand

  4. Metallurgy to extract Iron from Iron ores and making alloy – steel

  5. Change in agriculture techniques 

  6. Surplus Farming – Improved tools and techniques increased production.

  7. Iron Plough – Deeper furrows – Needed for sugarcane

  8. Irrigation – Rice  and cotton

  9. Transplantation in Peddy fields

  10. Revenue

  11. Land was controlled by Gahapaties ( Private possession of Land was started)

  12. Cattle were private capitals. Grazing lands and forests were owned collectively by the community.

  13. Land Tax was – 1/6 to 1/12

  14. Monetary System – Puchmark coins

  15. Mint was Controlled by The State

  16. Silver, gold or copper coins

  17. released by King, Setthis or Guilds.

  18. Trade and Commerce and Urbanisation 

  19. Transportation improved.  Wheels were covered with Iron plates – makes it more rugged, fast and long lasting.

  20. New Towns flourished – Champa, Shravasti, Kaushanbi, Varanasi, Kushinara etc. More that 60 Urban centres all over India. 20 Big Towns.

  21. Many Towns were the centre for crafts production, capitals or Trade centres.

  22. Guilds  – 18 Craft Guilds

  23. Big Traders – Setthis
